Amanda Servedio, 36, was hit by a pickup truck that was wanted for burglary and was fleeing from police on 37th Street and 34th Avenue in Astoria on October 23. The truck sped through an intersection as police were in pursuit, striking Servedio and sending her and the bike flying into the air and onto a parked car. The truck’s license plate was also linked to dozens of speeding tickets, red light tickets and camera issues in the last few years, advocacy group Families for Safe Streets said.
News reports say that the woman who was struck was a bicyclist and has since died. She was killed by a pickup truck driver who was fleeing from police after a burglary in Astoria. The pickup was later found about a mile away with no occupants. The suspects remain at large.
A 911 caller has reported an unconfirmed incident at 34th Ave & 37th St.
