LIRR Service Disrupted Due to Electrical Fire Inside Penn Station on Thursday

According to a new update from the MTA, there is extremely limited LIRR service to Penn Station on Friday morning, and no eastbound service from Penn Station. Use Grand Central or Atlantic Terminal if you are heading east. Check your train's status before traveling.

The MTA warned there may be morning rush hour delays, reroutes, and cancellations on Friday, and requested for riders to check their train's status.

Penn Station LIRR service remains suspended due to the earlier track fire near the terminal, the MTA said on Thursday night. Amtrak crews are continuing their repair work. Most trains tonight are diverted to and from Grand Central.

Additionally, all westbound trains to Penn Station will terminate at Jamaica. LIRR service to and from Grand Central Station is not affected.

QL comp to Manhattan. QL comp. Arbiters report 1076, all hands box 8171, Pennsylvania Station. Car 6 Adam, Deputy Assistant Chief Corgan reports, all visible fire has been knocked down. Box 8550 on 1st Avenue, that all checks out. The Queens Companies can go 10-8, and we're gonna place this fire probably will hold.

Medical branch direct Manhattan box 8171, citywide, profit report number 5, when you're ready. 8171, proceed. When operations remain unknown, central's going to be loaded with public safety personnel and civilians. Station remains at zero. Fire currently operating the east tunnel with a no one male card. Rescue group is staging on track 19 at this time, on the platform level with X-Star 1 and TAC number 1. Fire's advising that there was a smoke condition at 34 and 1 due to the tunnel, but there's no impact on the local hospital.
